We may be the only two people to actually lose weight on the cruise we took through the inner passage. Instead of eating the gourmet dead food in the restaurants on board we ate from the cafeteria salad bars the whole trip. We spent most of the time on our balcony watching the wilderness float by. Even when the temperature was freezing, we just bundled up and spent time with the glaciers and watching the wildlife and whales. This journey reinforced one truth for us. You do create the world you chose to live in. While literally everyone else was putting on a pound a day at the opulent spreads, we chose the right foods for us and the activities which fed our souls. We must make the choice for life every day. No matter what resistance comes from others or in our own minds, there is simply no alternative to eating right and enjoying the wondrous bounty of the natural world. All life is medicine. It is up to us to chose that which brings us health, vitality and unity.

Jack here. I must tell you what a revelation live raw foods are for me. Thanks to Sequoia’s never-ending desire for health and balance, I am eating like a King! and feeling great; mentally, physically and spiritually.

This road to optimal diet and health has been a long journey for me, as well. Just shy of 60 years old, I had been on a “see” food diet for most of my years ( I would eat any food I would see). Especially fond of sweets and fatty foods, I struggled to make good decisions where my diet was concerned. Like most people, I never knew how live food lovingly prepared could open new portals of awareness and vitality.

The natural world is so full of life and diversity, color and texture that I have always felt a deep reverence for our garden world. Of course, eating is one of the most intimate acts we engage in daily. However eating, like breathing is something we often do unconsciously.

We must ask ourselves;

  • Where does this food come from?
  • Under what conditions was it grown?
  • How did it arrive in our homes?
  • Does this food promote health or disease?
  • Does this food support the health of the earth and sustainability for future generations?
  • To me these are all deeply spiritual questions. The answers to these questions carry broad implications which transcend politics and culture.

I have planted a seed.

A tomato seed, a beet seed, a sunflower seed. I have prepared the soil with my hands from rich loam and compost. I have fed my plant brothers with rich organic nutrients. I sing to them and watch them grow to fruition. I never feel a separation from them and can’t wait to see them in the morning. It is a new day, full of simplicity and peace. When we consume this food in its right time we will be nourished completely; Nourished, purified and strengthened.

I want to welcome you to this world of love, harmony and balance. The tastes and vitality of real foods prepared in their natural state exist for us all; no corporations or patents block our way to optimum health in cooperation with the Divine within us and around us. Lets us take the steps necessary to bring more years to our life and, especially, life to our years. Sequoia and I stand enthusiastically ready to help you and can’t wait to celebrate your journey with you.
